Ramayana Producer Says Hollywood 'Didn't Have An Appreciation For Our Industry And History': "It Kept Frustrating Me"

In a recent interview, Namit Malhotra, the producer of the upcoming cinematic adaptation of the 'Ramayana,' expressed his frustrations regarding Hollywood's lack of appreciation for Indian culture and history. He emphasized that this disconnect has been a recurring issue, often hindering collaboration opportunities between the two industries. With an ambitious budget of Rs 4,000 crore, the 'Ramayana' is poised to be one of the most expensive films ever made in India, showcasing the richness of Indian mythology on a global scale. Malhotra underscored the importance of recognizing and valuing local narratives, suggesting that Hollywood often overlooks the depth and significance of Indian storytelling. As the film approaches production, he hopes that it will bridge cultural gaps and foster a greater understanding of India’s artistic heritage among international audiences.
