Mexico Violence: Indian Embassy Sounds Alarm For Nationals After El-Mencho Killing, Issues Helpline Numbers

In light of escalating violence following the killing of notorious drug lord Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as 'El Mencho', the Indian Embassy in Mexico has issued a strong advisory to its nationals. The advisory specifically targets Indian citizens residing in or visiting the states of Jalisco, Tamaulipas, Michoacán, Guerrero, and Nuevo León, where security operations and cartel retaliation have intensified. Authorities have urged Indians to exercise extreme caution and avoid areas experiencing heightened conflict. In response to these developments, the embassy has also provided helpline numbers for Indians in distress or in need of assistance. The situation reflects broader issues of cartel violence in Mexico, which has seen a significant rise in crime rates and security challenges, affecting both locals and foreign nationals. The Indian government is committed to ensuring the safety of its citizens abroad amidst rising tensions in regions plagued by drug-related violence.
