M-cap of six of top 10 most valued firms climbs Rs 63,000 crore; L&T, SBI biggest gainers
The market capitalization of six of India's top ten most valuable companies increased by approximately Rs 63,478 crore last week, with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and State Bank of India (SBI) leading the gains. The BSE Sensex rose by 0.22%, adding 187.95 points, as positive market sentiment buoyed valuations. L&T saw a remarkable increase of Rs 28,523 crore, boosting its market cap to Rs 6,02,552 crore. SBI followed, gaining Rs 16,015 crore, raising its valuation to Rs 11,22,581 crore. Other notable gainers included HDFC Bank, which added Rs 9,618 crore, and LIC, which increased by Rs 5,977 crore. Conversely, several firms experienced declines, particularly Bharti Airtel, which saw a drop of Rs 15,339 crore, reducing its market cap to Rs 11,27,705 crore. ICICI Bank, Infosys, and Tata Consultancy Services also faced losses in valuation. Despite fluctuations, Reliance Industries retained its position as the most valued firm in India, followed by HDFC Bank and SBI. The overall market performance reflects a mixed sentiment among investors amid ongoing economic developments.
