Law to curb violence on govt employees on anvil

The Karnataka government is set to introduce a new law aimed at safeguarding its employees from violence and assault. This proposed legislation would classify assaults on government officials as a non-bailable offense, imposing severe penalties that could include up to three years of imprisonment and fines reaching ₹50,000. The move comes in response to increasing incidents of violence against public servants, which the government deems unacceptable. Officials have emphasized the necessity of this law to ensure a safe working environment for government employees, who often face hostility while performing their duties. This legislative initiative reflects a broader trend across India to bolster protections for public servants and maintain order in the community. If enacted, the law could serve as a deterrent against future assaults, contributing to a more secure and stable administrative framework in the state.
