Herd of elephants trample six to death in Jharkhand

In a tragic incident in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district, a herd of elephants trampled six individuals to death, including four members of the same family. The horrifying event unfolded when the elephants strayed into a village, causing panic among residents. In addition to the fatalities, one child sustained injuries during the encounter. This incident highlights the ongoing human-wildlife conflict in the region, which has been exacerbated by habitat loss and encroachment into elephant territories. Authorities are now working to manage the situation and prevent further incidents, while locals are urged to remain vigilant. The state of Jharkhand, known for its rich biodiversity, has seen a rise in such encounters as elephants migrate in search of food and water, leading to increasingly dangerous interactions with human populations. Efforts to mitigate these conflicts include establishing barriers and raising awareness among communities about safe practices around wildlife.
