Free Trade Pact With India Expected This Year: Israel Envoy To NDTV

Israel's Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, announced that the initial round of negotiations for a free trade agreement (FTA) between Israel and India has recently concluded. The discussions, which aim to bolster economic ties between the two nations, are progressing positively, with the envoy expressing optimism that the FTA could be finalized by 2026. This agreement is expected to enhance bilateral trade, currently valued at approximately $6 billion, by reducing tariffs and promoting cooperation in various sectors, including technology and agriculture. The FTA aligns with Israel's broader strategy to strengthen its economic partnerships in Asia, particularly with key players like India, which has been recognized as a significant market for Israeli goods and services. As both countries look to deepen their economic collaboration, the successful conclusion of the FTA could pave the way for increased investments and joint ventures, further solidifying their strategic relationship.
