DGCA Puts Stricter Breath Analyser Test Norms In Place For Pilots

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has implemented stricter regulations regarding breath analyser tests for pilots, aiming to enhance aviation safety. Under the new rules, any pilot who fails a Breath Analyser (BA) test prior to a flight on three separate occasions will have their license revoked. This decision underscores the DGCA's commitment to ensuring that pilots are fit for duty, particularly in light of recent incidents that have raised concerns about pilot sobriety. The revised norms are part of a broader initiative to reinforce safety protocols within the aviation sector, which has been under scrutiny for various safety-related issues. By intensifying monitoring and enforcement of alcohol consumption standards, the DGCA hopes to mitigate risks and promote a culture of accountability among airline professionals. This move aligns with international best practices and reflects a proactive approach to safeguard passengers and crew alike, ensuring that the skies remain safe for all travelers in India.
