Delhi to get 14 more air quality monitoring stations, exceed 25 sq km coverage target

In a significant push to enhance air quality monitoring in the capital, Delhi will soon introduce 14 additional air quality monitoring stations, raising the total number to 46. This expansion aims to provide better oversight of air pollution across the sprawling 1,483 square kilometers of the city, ensuring that there is an air quality monitor for every 32 square kilometers. The move comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Delhi government to tackle the persistent issue of air pollution, which has become a critical concern for public health. With these new stations, the capital not only exceeds its target coverage but also strengthens its commitment to transparency in environmental data. Improved air quality monitoring is expected to aid policymakers in formulating effective strategies to combat air pollution, ultimately benefiting the residents of Delhi, who have long faced the adverse effects of poor air quality. This initiative underscores the city's dedication to creating a healthier urban environment and reflects a growing recognition of the importance of air quality in public health and urban planning.
