Board of Peace: India takes observer role
India has participated as an observer in the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace in Washington DC, as confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted India's support for the Gaza Peace Plan initiated by US President Donald Trump, along with its backing of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, which endorses efforts to resolve the Gaza conflict by 2025. During the meeting, Trump emphasized the Board's role in enhancing the effectiveness of the United Nations, announcing a significant US contribution of $10 billion to support global conflict resolution efforts, specifically in Gaza. The Board aims to ensure proper functioning of the UN and improve its facilities and financial stability, with several countries already committing funds and resources towards Gaza relief. The initiative also involves contributions from various nations for stabilization efforts in the region, marking a collaborative international approach to peace in Gaza. This engagement underscores India's commitment to global peace initiatives while navigating complex geopolitical dynamics in the region.
