BJP MLA Vungzagin Valte, Injured In Manipur Ethnic Clashes, Dies

Vungzagin Valte, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Manipur, has succumbed to injuries sustained during the violent ethnic clashes that erupted in the state in May 2023. The clashes, primarily between the Meitei and Kuki communities, led to widespread unrest and violence in Imphal, the state capital. Valte was gravely injured in an attack by protesters amid these disturbances. He was receiving treatment at a hospital in Gurugram, Haryana, where he ultimately passed away. His death marks a significant moment in the ongoing conflict, which has resulted in loss of life and displacement, prompting concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the region.
