Bengaluru bank deputy manager steals ₹3.5-crore gold from lockers 'for online gambling'

In a shocking incident, a deputy manager at a Bengaluru bank has been accused of embezzling gold worth ₹3.5 crore from customer lockers, allegedly to fund his online gambling addiction. The fraud came to light after the bank's chief manager lodged a complaint with the Girinagar police, prompting an investigation into the matter. The accused, who has not been publicly named, is believed to have exploited his position to access and steal the gold, which had been securely stored by clients. Such incidents raise concerns about the security measures in place at financial institutions, especially in light of increasing reports of internal theft. As the police investigate further, the bank has assured its customers that measures will be taken to enhance security and prevent future occurrences. The case emphasizes the need for stringent oversight and internal controls within banks to protect both assets and customer trust.
